Social Responsibility Ethical Leadership ââ¬Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The Social Responsibility Ethical Leadership? Answer: Introduction In todays corporate world, ethical leadership and accomplishment of social responsibilities have become crucial to the success of an individual(Zhang et al. 2013). Furthermore, ethics are important because they support in differentiating between what is right and what is wrong. On the other hand, organizations are now needed to ensure that their business practices and operations do not have the negative impact on the people living in the society. The present study reflects some of the key characteristics of my style. In addition to this, the impact of personal style on my future interpersonal relationships is also mentioned in this report. The key ethical issues which can be faced by manager or leaders while dealing with people in the organization are also highlighted in the present report. Characteristics of my personal style In near future when I will work as a leader in any particular organization then the personal style that I will adopt directly influence the entire team. Further, it is necessary for every individual to ensure that the personal style adopted must be favourable so that individual can work for the betterment of the team and the organization. Considering my personal style where I possess some unique attribute which I think must be present in a successful leader. Dependable is one of the attributes which must be present in a leader as the individual must take advice from the team members in every of the situation to contribute best to the organization(Yukl et al. 2013). Therefore, this attribute will support me in near future where I will prefer to depend on my team members and other individuals within the workplace for conducting operations. Fearless is the key attribute whether leaders working in the organizations conduct all the operations without any fear and they prefer to take challenging tasks(Aarons et al. 2015). So, this also matches with my personal style where I will prefer to take part in the challenging activities. This attribute will surely assist me to become the successful leader, and I can easily contribute in the major affairs of the organization. Other key attributes of my personal style involve honesty, adaptability to change and loyalty towards work that will make me a successful leader. On the other hand, I possess some negative attributes which involve self-centred where in many situations leader consider their personal benefit like at the time of taking the decision and this is not at all ethical. It is the moral duty of the leader to involve the entire team member while taking the decision. I will try to work on this area where I will less focus on my personal benefit. Further, arrogant is also one of the negative attributes of my personal style. In some situations I am overconfident, and this attribute leads to decline in performance of a leader. Therefore, I will try to work on all these areas. This will surely support me to become the successful leader, and I can support my entire team in the proper manner. Apart from this, I need to develop my personal style which requires team and more efforts. Impact of personal style on interpersonal relationships In future, I am looking forward to working as a manager in one of the stores of Woolworth Australia. It can be expressed that my style traits will have a direct impact on my interpersonal relationship at the workplace. I usually depend heavily on others for the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities. Furthermore, this dependency can affect my interpersonal relationship at work in both positive and negative aspects. For example, excess dependency will result in developing my bad image in front of others. People working under me will start perceiving that I am not capable enough to accomplish task and activities by my own. On the other hand, limited dependency will result in developing long term and healthy relationship with others. I am very loyal and honest regarding carrying out my work and this personal style will help in enhancing the overall degree of interpersonal relationship at workplace. My honest and loyalty will support in improving my image and will also encourage others to perceive me as a great leader. The interpersonal relationship at work is also affected by a leader's overall ability to adopt changes at frequent intervals(Shin et al. 2015). I am well aware of various tools and techniques which can help in implementing and managing changes within the organization in the best possible manner. This characteristic will motivate others to seek for my views and opinions during situations when they are not able to adopt changes(Brown Trevio 2014). Thus, I will be able to develop long term relationship with other staff members through this personal style. However, it can be critically argued that personal styles such as arrogance can adversely affect the overall interpersonal relationship at work. A leader or manager needs to make sure that he/she thinks twice before speaking and during the conversation, he/she should not adopt arrogant style. It will directly result in creating dissatisfaction among other workers and will also adversely affect my growth in the organization. Arrogant nature is considered as one of the worst characteristics of a person, and it is also suggested that the use of this personal style should be avoided in the best possible manner. Concepts linked with ethical leadership Ethical leadership is regarded as the demonstration of appropriate conduct by maintaining interpersonal relationship and actions along with the promotion of such conduct to followers with the help of decision making, two-way communication, etc. In order to understand the concept of ethical leadership the 4-V model proposed by Dr. Bill Grace is quite effective this relies on the four pillars that are vision, values, voice, and virtue(Hassan et al. 2013). Values: This pillar is based on the belief that ethical leadership starts with understanding of core values. Further, individual has to integrate own values with the choice making on all the levels of personal lives. Vision: It is linked with the ability to frame personal actions Voice: This pillar is linked with the process of articulating personal vision to others in appropriate way that motivates to respond in a particular way Virtue: It is all about practicing virtuous behaviour and knowing what is right and wrong. In the modern era, demand for ethical leadership has enhanced where they possess the capability to differentiate themselves by doing what is unpopular, inconvenient in the service of long term health along with the value.(Choudhary, Akhtar Zaheer 2013) The key attributes of ethical leaders take into consideration caring, honest, fair, balanced decisions, etc. Further, each and every activity of ethical leader is in accordance with the organizational goals and decision(Wu et al. 2015). Any type of biased activity is not at all present within the workplace, and this makes them successful. They are generally indulged into the practice of making balanced decisions, and they are most commonly exhibited by patience, humanity, character, social justice, etc. In short, the concept associated with ethical leadership is quite significant(Ropo et al. 2015). Considering the framework of ethical leadership I have found that it is necessary for me to ensure that all my practices are ethical and I have to possess all the attributes that are present in an ethical leader like honesty, loyalty, ethical decision making. Through this, it will be possible for me to contribute maximum in the business affairs and all the business practices will be ethical in every possible manner. Moreover, I have to ensure that the range of decisions that I will take within the workplace is favourable where it positively affects every individual present in my team. I have to ensure that my overall practices are ethical and they are contributing to the growth of the organization which I will work as a leader. Therefore, this directly highlights the attributes of ethical leaders. Ethical issues while dealing with people in organization In simpler terms, ethics can be considered as the set of written and unwritten principles which guide the behaviour of people working in an organization(Tannenbaum, Weschler Massarik 2013). Furthermore, being a manager or leader in a company, one needs to deal with a large number of ethical issues. For example, offering fair and equal opportunities to people in the organization is the biggest problem linked with ethics(Palanski, Avey Jiraporn 2014). A manager is required to ensure that no form of discrimination is encouraged among the staff members. At the same time, fair wages and development opportunities are also required to be provided by the leader or manager. Another ethical issue which a manager can face while dealing with people at the workplace is linked to health and safety of the employee. A leader or manager needs to ensure that adequate measures for staff members health and safety are taken into consideration. Apart from this, a manager also needs to ensure that issues such as workplace harassment are not encouraged within the business practices. It is the ethical duty of every manager and leader makes sure that no worker in the organization should be harassed sexually, physically and mentally. Furthermore, strict actions should be taken against the workers who are indulged in such kind of practices within the company(Jordan et al. 2013). It can be explained that managing employee behaviour and working conditions within the organization are the two most important ethical issues which are being faced by leaders and managers. It is required by managers and leaders to develop effective policies and practices to deal with the mentioned-above ethical issues. . Preferred leadership style and practices In the modern era, a leader plays a significant role in overall growth and development of a business enterprise(Sharif Scandura 2014). Furthermore, the leadership style and practices adopted by a person has a direct impact on the behaviour of individuals working in an organization. Nowadays, there are different styles and practices of leadership which can be taken into consideration by leaders to ensure smooth functioning of all business operations and activities(Kpers 2016). For example, some leaders adopt the autocratic style of leadership while performing their role of leader in the organization. According to this style, leaders do not consider the views and opinions of staff members in the process of decisions making and strategy formulation. The result of this is that high degree of dissatisfaction is created among employees and they also start feeling dissatisfied. However, it can be critically argued that autocratic leadership style is beneficial and efficient in situations where fast decisions making is required. On the other hand, some leaders adopt the participative or democratic style of leadership which encourages suggestions and opinions from other staff members. The result of this is that leaders can acquire a higher degree of satisfaction among workers with the help of this leadership style and practices(Shapiro Stefkovich 2016). The drawback of participative style is that it can cause a delay in the entire process of decision making as a leader is required to consider views and opinion of every employee and this is very time-consuming(Rijal 2016). As per my view, a leader should not restrict him to a particular style of leadership. I believe that situational leadership is the best practice which can be taken into consideration by leaders in the long run. The situational style and practice of leadership are the one who encourages a leader to change leadership style as per changes in the situation. For example in conditions where fast decision making is required, autocratic style can be adopted by the leader. On the other hand, to develop satisfaction among workers, in the long run, democratic style can be chosen. The benefit of using situational leadership is that it assists in carrying out effective decision making and it also supports in developing strong coordination among all staff members(Tannenbaum, Weschler Massarik 2013). Conclusion The entire study carried out has supported in knowing about the concept of ethical leadership where it plays the most significant role in the organization. Further, the key attributes present in a leader involves honesty, loyalty, dedication towards work, the strength of character, etc. Moreover, the characteristics of my personal style reflect my key strengths and weaknesses where it is necessary for me to work on the key areas where my performance lacks, and improvement is needed. Apart from this, the 4V model of ethical leadership is also effective where it undertakes the key values such as voice, virtue, values, and vision. These are the key pillars of this model that needs to be considered by the leader who wants to ethically conduct business operations. A Generation Set Aside Essays (1283 words) - Demography,
A Generation Set Aside Often we hear of the generation gap -- that huge expanse between parent and child. Perhaps it is an acquaintance gap. Young people and adults do not know each other. The inability to communicate often enters the picture. Sometimes it is because neither knows what the other is interested in. They live under the same roof, but they rarely see one another, especially after the teenage years come along. The father goes off to work before the children are awake. Mother may go back to bed after seeing the husband off to work; or off to her own job. Teenagers get themselves up and off to school without seeing either parent. Then after school there is ball practice, band practice, or something else that consumes their time; maybe a job that lasts until bedtime. Parents have things that tie them up in the evenings; so the days come and go, and there is precious little time spent together. A meal together is even a rare occasion. All of these activities may be wholesome and proper, but still t he family suffers because there is so little time spent together. This causes many children to make too many decisions on their own, and so often they will leave important and crucial matters out of their thoughts and plans. This generation often gets labelled by the media and the older people in society as the "youngsters who are tearing this country apart." The fact of the matter is that we are a product of our parent's mistakes and remain to be misunderstood. In the past several years we have seen much media attention focused on the generation that followed the boomers, popularly known as Generation X. Born between the mid-1960s and early 1980s , this is the most complex of the generation, and by far the least understood in spite of its current celebrity. This generation can best be described as the "Misunderstood Generation." They are the generation that dealt with and are still dealing with broken homes, drug addiction, AIDS, and bleak futures. A great deal of the young people in this "Misunderstood Generation" think very little about the future or present issues. This generation has lost sight of long terms goals and the idea that hard work pays off in the end. Instead, the people in this generation concern themselves only with what will bring immediate satisfaction and gratification. This part of society cares only about money and themselves, never thinking about the consequences of their actions. The "Misunderstood Generation" feels overwhelmed with the idea of a country with a multi- trillion dollar deficit, a high rate of poverty, and relatively no jobs. The "Misunderstood Generation" wants less out of life. This generation has evolved from the children that came home from school to an empty house because mom had to go back to work after the divorce. This is the generation that got its morals from watching T.V. after school and was parented by an older brother or sister. This is the generation that has unconventional ways and does not always reason for them. They are uncertain and need answers. They poke and prod to find what is lying ahead. They have loud voices but are seldom heard. This is the generation which has high expectations and are often disappointed. I, as well as all of the others born in my generation, were unleashed into an ever changing world. The advances of today can easily be old news tomorrow. Along with this they, the people who have lived and controlled up until this day, have allowed the respect of the living to dwindle with the consistently increasing ease of everyday life. Transportation from one point to another can be the simplest of tasks. Communication with someone in any far off land can be reached with just the touch of a button. And access to almost all the information the world has to offer is free for all with the use of the Internet. No other group of people have grown up with these things as being such the standards and necessities of life and living that they are today. We have never had a war in our country. All of

The Distance Between Me And My Readers - A Bob Mayer Interview
The Distance Between Me And My Readers - A Bob Mayer Interview ââ¬Å"The distance between me and my readers is the internetâ⬠An interview with Bob Mayer How can indie authors use eBooks to their full advantage, creatively exploiting their potential to be adapted over time and linked to an authorââ¬â¢s whole output?Bob Mayer is a New York Times Bestselling Author who is not afraid to explore the incredible new opportunities available to authors. With 60 books published - both traditionally published and indie-published - Bob has sold over four million books. He and is also a leadership speaker and consultant, coaching authors on many aspects of writing and publishing. He is also CEO of Cool Gus Publishing and his latest book Time Patrol has just come out. On top of all that, he is the only West Point Graduate and Former Green Beret weââ¬â¢ve ever had the pleasure of interviewing! We talk about his work as a hybrid author, his marketing techniques, and Italian book coversâ⬠¦ Itââ¬â¢s really great to be interviewing Bob this afternoon - a New York Times bestselling author, writing coach, who also writes a lot about publishing and self-publishing. Firstly Bob, itââ¬â¢d be great to start with your writing course Write on the River, how is it going?Iââ¬â¢ve been doing writing workshops for a number of years - I used to hold small intimate workshops and various bed and breakfasts. After my wife and I moved to the Tennessee River, we got a nice big house, so a couple of times a year we bring four writers into the weekend, working with them on their books. The weekend after thisà Iââ¬â¢ve got four people coming down.So you work with them on all sorts of things, structure and character development, that type of thing?I change it for every group because every group is a little different. Iââ¬â¢ve had number one New York Times bestsellers here - usually itââ¬â¢s published authors with some experience, but occasionally Iââ¬â¢ve had a new auth or. We usually spend a lot of time on the ââ¬Ëidea and conflict lockââ¬â¢ and a lot of time talking about the business, because so many things are up in flux right now. Many authors - even established authors - are wondering right now, ââ¬Å"should I become a hybrid author?â⬠, ââ¬Å"should I keep traditionally publishing?â⬠, ââ¬Å"should I self-publish?â⬠One of our authors came down here for the weekend and sheââ¬â¢s publishing with Cool Gus, so sheââ¬â¢s become a hybrid author. You are a hybrid author who has published a number of different ways, could you tell us a bit more about that?I was published in New York for 42 books - Random House, St Martins - many big houses. Then I went self-publishing as I had a huge backlist to which I owned the rights and formed my own publishing company Cool Gus.I knew from the very beginning what I wanted was to sign with 47 North, Amazonââ¬â¢s Science Fiction imprint. The main reason I did that was because of their marketing capabilities. They have tremendous power to market you on their site. So Iââ¬â¢ve got a book weââ¬â¢re going to publish May 5th. Iââ¬â¢ve got a book coming back from 47 North thatââ¬â¢s due out in August, so I alternate writing science-fiction for amazon and thrillers for my own company. What is it specifically about their marketing that interested you? They have reach: they call it ââ¬Ëmerchandisingââ¬â¢. They really know who the readers are and have huge databases. They know everyone who has bought one of their previous books and send them an email. They also do pricing - in the UK they have a ââ¬Ëbook for a poundââ¬â¢ - they pick a number of titles and promote those. There is a huge difference sales-wise when you use any of these platforms - whether Amazon, Apple or Audible ACX - they give you some ââ¬Ëmerchandisingââ¬â¢ and your sales can skyrocket.Yes, weââ¬â¢ve found with many authors that email lists are really helpful, because you ar e talking to an engaged audience, and that itââ¬â¢s worth slowly building them upYes, we donââ¬â¢t send many newsletters out because we feel many people are bombarded by them, but we are focusing on building our list this year. The other thing we have is a private Facebook group called ââ¬ËThe A-teamââ¬â¢: weââ¬â¢ve got about 30 people in there. These are people who really like my books. Itââ¬â¢s a small intimate group where we chat about what Iââ¬â¢m writing. If you can get a core of about 40-50 readers who talk about you and promote you, thatââ¬â¢s huge. The book - Time Patrol (Area 51: The Nightstalkers Book 4) - just came out yesterday and Iââ¬â¢ve already got a handful of reviews, mainly because of those types of people.I like the idea of nurturing a small but dedicated small fan group. They are the oneââ¬â¢s you can have a personal connection to.The most important thing is readers. Iââ¬â¢ve got a huge Twitter following, but I donââ¬â¢t reall y think it sells books; I donââ¬â¢t think a huge Facebook following sells books - although these things arenââ¬â¢t bad of course. The distance between me and my readers is the internet. I can communicate with them and respond to every email I get or every mention on Twitter. I think thatââ¬â¢s key.Thereââ¬â¢s lot of resistance in the publishing industry to change - I think thatââ¬â¢s because so much of it doesnââ¬â¢t change: itââ¬â¢s always going to be about great content and writing. But, of course, things are changing: are there any new developments that are interesting to you?Subscription is big. A lot of people are complaining about Kindle Unlimited for sales dropping, but Kindle Unlimited occurred at the same time as the content flood hit the eBook market - thereââ¬â¢s just so much content out there and thatââ¬â¢s not going away.We donââ¬â¢t fight those things. Yesterday we got a cheque from Draft2Digital and the Scribd subscription service. We use those things; we use Kindle Unlimited. I broke one of my non-fiction books into 15 shorts, dedicated totally to Kindle Unlimited. I think writers waste a lot of time tilting at windmills they canââ¬â¢t change. They need to look at the publishing landscape and use everything out there to the best of their abilities.Yes, and I think they could anticipate change a lot more than they actually do.Ha! Yea, although I donââ¬â¢t think anyone could tell you where weââ¬â¢re going to be a year from now. It does always come back to good content though. The good thing is that I think if you write a good book, thatââ¬â¢s a big part of it and then you do have to get out there and reach the readers. The readers have to know the book exists.Youââ¬â¢ve said in the past that this is the moment in publishing you are most excited to be a part of because the author has control.Absolutely! What Iââ¬â¢m doing right now didnââ¬â¢t exist ten years ago. Ten years ago I would hold the rig ht to 50 books and be able to do absolutely nothing with them. I wouldnââ¬â¢t be able to sell them to anybody - I couldnââ¬â¢t get them in the bookstore. Now, they are in virtual bookstores, I can sell them to readers. One of our saying is ââ¬Å"If you havenââ¬â¢t read it, itââ¬â¢s not backlistâ⬠. I was reading my first book from 1991 and I realised to someone reading it now, itââ¬â¢s a brand new book. One of the interesting things right now is how publishing is relating to other media. People talk about how it is conflicting of complementing other media - cable TV, movies, games, etc - but do you think also that a lot of writers could learn about how they market these media?I see writers say ââ¬Å"go kill your TVâ⬠, but my wife and I watch a lot of TV and the writing is fantastic. Marketing-wise, if you look at what Netflix did with the Kevin Spacey show, where they released it all on the same day, I think thatââ¬â¢s something to think about.People want instant gratification now. It used to be that in traditional publishing, I have to give a book a year, but I had to write under three pen names because they would not allow me to publish more than a book a year. Now, you cannot publish fast enough, or write fast enough to keep up with demand from readers!Yes, maybe you could experiment publishing lots at once, gaining a core reader group, then change your strategy, slow down or create anticipation.Yes one thing weââ¬â¢re doing is weââ¬â¢re putting out a book every three months this year and what Iââ¬â¢m doing personally is Iââ¬â¢m racking my books together. I just had a book come out yesterday that loops back to my early Atlantic series, so what Iââ¬â¢m doing is connecting the dots over 25 years of books. At the end of the book, I say ââ¬Å"if you want to know more about this character, go to this seriesâ⬠, ââ¬Å"if you want to know more about this world, go to this seriesâ⬠. I think that gives readers mor e options to go through the back story. Now your books are always out there - they donââ¬â¢t grow old, so you can create these links in ways which werenââ¬â¢t previously possible. One thing I often talk about in my business is that an eBook is not like a print book: itââ¬â¢s very, very different. Itââ¬â¢s organic. Itââ¬â¢s changing. We have so many titles that when we bring out a new one, we have to go into the back and change all the links in it, we have to change the metadata.Yesterday my new book came out and is called Time Patrol and I asked my business partner, ââ¬Å"by the way, do these books have another subgenre on Amazon of ââ¬Ëtime travelââ¬â¢, because this is actually another best seller list!â⬠and sheââ¬â¢d already taken care of that. So itââ¬â¢s just constant change, and I think itââ¬â¢s caught traditional publishers a little by surprise, because they are used to the ââ¬Ëfire and forgetââ¬â¢ method. They published a book and itâ â¬â¢s out there, itââ¬â¢s never going to change. An eBook changes constantly. Iââ¬â¢m not talking the content - although you can do that - Iââ¬â¢m talking all the things around it: the cover the endman, the metadata, so itââ¬â¢s a constant churning of things.Have you experimented with changing covers?Oh yea! Weââ¬â¢ve changed covers. Actually, you often have to change covers, like on Amazon, where there are certain promotional things you canââ¬â¢t get into if you have things like a gun on the cover. I totally understand, because people complain, but you have to change the image and remove the gun, simply to get in these marketing programs!I think itââ¬â¢s endlessly fascinating how in different countries, different covers just work and different ones just donââ¬â¢t work. I think you can learn a lot about individual countries by the book covers they like!I was in a book store in Italy where it was always a scantily-clad woman on the cover with an atomic blast in the background and there was no woman in a bikini in the book! They just stick it there because thatââ¬â¢s what sells. So much of indie publishing seems to require a certain kind of author: entrepreneurial and someone who can effectively manage their own business. Do you think that may change? Do you think it could incorporate other types of writers who are perhaps not entrepreneurial, but who still want control and the best of indie-publishing?Well, thatââ¬â¢s a little what we do at Cool Gus. A handful of authors we work with just want to write, yet they want the freedom, so we take care of all the things for them, but we give them final say. So they donââ¬â¢t have to get caught up in the actual doing of it, but weââ¬â¢ll say, ââ¬Å"What do you want on your cover?â⬠- and they get the final say on that, cover copy, everything! So I think thatââ¬â¢s a different business model. And so that they have a team to help themYes, I think itââ¬â¢s really hard to do it all well. There are people that do it, but itââ¬â¢s much easier to send someone an email and say ââ¬Å"Please take care of thisâ⬠.Where do you think agents may fit in the future?I think agents are evolving. Kristen Nelson who works with Hugh Howey is an example of an agent thatââ¬â¢s really changed the way she looks at things. And I actually think traditional publishing is not going to die: itââ¬â¢s evolving and they are learning, changing and adapting. Iââ¬â¢m querying agents right now because I need help with foreign rights. I canââ¬â¢t really travel to the London Book Fair, for example, so I need an agent to take care of those things for me.I think the reason publishing is so interesting is because it is a very complex industry and there are so many different things to be doing. What are you thinking about experimenting with in the next couple of years?Itââ¬â¢s more about the creative part. Iââ¬â¢ve been doing it so long, that what I realise is that I can produce better books faster and the market is there for it. I have so many series going, and at the same time I put a few experimental things out there. And I donââ¬â¢t have to sit there and worry, will my agent like it, will my editor like it, will my publisher like it, will the sales force think they can sell it? All Iââ¬â¢ve got to care about is ââ¬Ëwill the readers like it?ââ¬â¢ I donââ¬â¢t think thatââ¬â¢s going to change: that I like. I can directly reach my readers and either they can hit that buy button or not, and that tells me if itââ¬â¢s working or not.Thatââ¬â¢s a really great message to send to our readers. Thanks so much for your time Bob!Follow @Bob_Mayer and @ReedsyHQ on TwitterDo you think too many authors waste time fighting things they canââ¬â¢t change? The socio-cultural, economic and environmental impact of mass tourism Essay
The socio-cultural, economic and environmental impact of mass tourism on Tokyo - Essay Example This paper presents fact-based analysis of the full gamut of the impact, mass tourism has on the functioning of Tokyo. Among the negative impacts of mass tourism in Tokyo are income inequality, class conflicts, social stress, cultural deterioration, deprivation of local people of access, ethical issues among others. Reformed tourism policies that promote appropriate resource allocation, investor and worker visitors, and conscious travel, should be adopted. There have emerged two opposing sides to the debate on whether mass tourism is good or bad. In particular, mass tourism is shrouded in quite a lot of controversies and debates with one side opposing and the other supporting mass tourism. The question many ask is whether mass tourism creates and increases exploitation or prosperity in the destination areas. By extension, questions are also raised about the possibility of responsible mass tourism and its effects on the culture, economy and environment of the destination areas. Those of the other side of the debate do not regard mass tourism as an exploitative activity; instead, eco-tourism holidays and package tours are viewed as forms of mass tourism that actually benefit local communities in destination areas. Mass tourism could really be great to local people and cultures, environment and economy if only the tourists respect the destinations local people and culture . In addition, host country and people must enjoy the opportunities of showing their unique economic, social and cultural practices and beliefs to their visitors (Totman, 2005). In addition, mass tourism should also expose the destination areas to the cultures of the visiting people. Tokyo, the capital city of Japan is one of the main tourism destinations in Asia, if not the entire world (Cullen, 2003). Hence, mass tourism affects life in Tokyo in one way or the other. The economic value of tourism in Tokyo soars well above 10 million Yen. Consisting of both local and foreign tourists, the main tourist attraction centres in Tokyo include but are not limited to entertainment districts, ubiquitous Japanese pop culture, stores and downtowns (Malm, 2000). The cultural districts of Shibuya and Harajuku come to mind when tourism in Tokyo is mentioned. In addition, museums such as the Tokyo National Museum, which is widely known for housing Japanââ¬â¢s artwork national treasures is a renowned tourist attraction, centre in Tokyo (Waley, 2007). Other attractions in Tokyo include Tsukiji Fish Market, the Senso-ji Temple, the Imperial Palace and the Meiji Shrine.
